Plot
We all know the sea can be a bit unpredictable. Yo u never know what's going to happen and when it's going to happen. The same goes for the 'Arc Kinetic;' an olden-days, pirate-like ship. A storm rolled over the horizon and they were stranded in the middle. When an island popped into view, they automatically dropped anchor and parked their ship. Now, they did have technology and radioed for help. Their boat wasn't in the best of shape. What they hadn't realized, though, was that they had stumbled upon an extraordinary island; one that hadn't been placed on maps yet. The oddest part, though, was that when they left, they craved for the island; they wanted to go back, even if there was nothing there. Well, that's what everyone had thought. Searches were discontinued after parties of 20 or even more would go missing; no trace left behidn what-so-ever. They hadn't known there were other people on the island. So they tested their boundaries by leaving things scattered around. The things that weren't over the boundary weren't touched at all, but the things that were were torn to shreds and thrown across the camps. So a fence was built, trying to keep out whatever was on the other side of the boundary. It took a while before the island could be declared safe and buildings could be put up. Parts of the city died, however, because of little use. Many mainlanders tended to grasp desperately onto their old traditions. The island is powered by solar energy and there are very few cars. It is a really nature-preserving place because when they started to build a factory, peices would go missing and workers would be killed and hung up on display. The city usually has a lot of extra power and every house and building has a back-up generator, so there really isn't anythign to worry about. But it didn't make the island normal. All of the people that had come had felt the same attraction the sailors had. Vampires had it the worse; it was like a craving that wouldn't go away. All they had to do was see a picture. As soon as the vampires arrived, they were aware of four other presences; the humans, the animals, and two other strange auras. When they checked it out, they got their answer at the expense of a couple of lives. The other two presenses were shapeshifters and what they called 'Natives;' a super-athletic and agile group of people that basically lived in the wild. The groups are separated by the fence but what should happen if the fence is taken down? Utter chaos, mass murder, clashes and dominance fighting. But, for now, the fence is up. And all that's left for me to say is... Welcome to Nowhere.

His footsteps echoed around in the unfinished factory. He looked around at the grotesque scenes that his people had created. His face contorted into a scowl, disgusted by the bloodied walls and the smell of the rotten blood. Had no one bothered to wash it off? Or was it because the Natives left it there as a warning? He sighed and shook his head, stepping over bricks and steel beams leftover from the construction project. The sky above him was dark. What time was it? He blinked a couple of times. How long had he been wandering? He lookd at the position of the cresant move above him. Early morning. He sighed.

No wonder he was so tired. His feet dragged a bit, conspicuously bare against the cold concrete. He didn't mind much. His pitch black hair was mostly pulled back into a band on the nape of his neck while two sections fell on either side of his face. His dark eyes scanned around, finding the place he wanted to rest. Aiden's tall body loomed into the dark room. There were a couple of hours until twilight and he figured he'd have some time to himself.

His clothing was oddly casual; he wasn't wearing any leather like he usually did. No cowhide or cords. It was because he was planning on walking amongst the Newcomers. He was curious, of course, despite being told they were dangerous and stupid and shouldn't have ever come to this land. Maybe that was why he wanted to walk near them; his tribe had always tried to prove to him that they were bad, and he wanted to see if it were true. So, he dressed as one of them.

He wore boxers under his jeans, an odd feeling indeed. He wondered if it were supposed to feel like that. Atop, he wore denim jeans that were for farmers. There were somewhat tight on his thighs and loosened up later on. He wore a belt through the loops to be sure they didn't fall. He was confused when he had seen other males wear their pants off of their ass. Was that comfortable? He didn't think so. He wore a long-sleeved shirt pushed up to his elbows. It did the job of hiding his muscular arms. He didn't like his muscles showing. In his shirt, a small rabbit pressed his cool nose onto Aiden's skin, rubbing his face against his chest.

Aiden let out a deep breath before his back slid down one of the walls as far away as possible from the bloodied wall. He shifted himself until he found a position he liked and let his hands fall into his lap before his eyes closed. His breathing became more sleep-like and he fell into a light, dreamless nap, his rabbit joining him.

A bone. Long, half hidden, possibly a femur. It was half hidden in a pile of rubble. For a moment Elita's curiosity itched at her hands, wanting to see if the bone's owner was under the rubble as well. But no, she had no one to dig it out for her, and her soft taffeta dress was too pretty to be dirtied.
Speaking of itching, Elita's skin was driving her mad. Not that she let it show of course. But it was there all the same. That damned itch that the sun always brought. But it was fading now, and at least the shade of the factory made it more tolerable.
Elita roamed the broken factory without course. Her eyes took in the gloom of it all in the waning light. Twilight was quick to settle, throwing the red-splattered gray into shadow.
Out of boredom Elita had started following him, the one who had come from the forest. The Kantari's scent was wild and strong, hard to pass in a sea of Newcomers. Her mouth slightly watered, but she scolded herself.
Humans back home is Paris may be cows, but here they were more tightly knit due to the few numbers. Newcomers or natives, she couldn't kill two or three a night like she had been used to, limiting herself to only one a week.
But despite the lack of cows, the city had its perks too. The sun here wasn't that harsh, so going out during the day was okay. Also, the other vampires here weren't as territorial, so there was really no fighting for hunts. Except that one wild coven. They were much like Elita was in Paris, wild, draining cows at will. But they lacked the intelligence of Elita apparently, did they not know that soon the human would unroot them if they kept on with their ways? Well, either way it was none of her concern. If they died she would be safe, nomad that she was. It was the only reason she had for not affiliating.

Elita hissed silently in shock as she realized that she had gotten much closer to the Kantari than she had wanted. He was right in the small room in front of her, his breathing slow and deep compared to the hare with him who huffed hurriedly.
Five days without drinking and being taken by surprise made Elita's hunger flare. Her body was tensed to attack, but the sane part of her dug her long fingernails into her palm, the sharp pain allowing her to regain her self control.
It wasn't until she had settled herself that she realized she had been growling, fierce and harsh.
She bit her pink lips hard, drawing crimson, hoping he hadn't wakened.

Hell, she was stupid to be here.

His light slumber hadn't been long. His eyes flickered open in one easy second and he saw it...her. It was a her. And her growl had his rabbit cowering into his stomach.

Aiden's hand gently cradled his friend in his hand as he held him in his shirt. He wasn't angry; his all-too-curious and friendly face pretty much proved it. He was too obsessed with new things. Vampires weren't new, but he had never met one in the city. So this one interested him. Had they started to move around already? The tribe would flip out at this news...if he told them. He had been keeping more to himself lately. Vampires, shapeshifters, humans. They were all the same to him. All the same, but completely different. He honestly felt no digust at the different breeds. They intrigued him; willed him to know more. He'd been scolded many times for this, but he didn't mind. Knowledge was worth it.

His head cocked to the side as he studied her features. She looked almost child-like, though she seemed his age. Well, he didn't know how long she'd been his age. Her short brown hair drew his attention. Didn't most vampires have it long? And her skin. If she compared it to his, she'd look whiter than a ghost. THen again, that was his former-tribe's blood. Darker skin like the Native Americans. But his eyes stuck on her mouth where the growl had just come from.

No doubt the sound had scared the little rabbit into a shocked shivering state. Aiden debated whether to take his shirt off and wrap it around the small animal. It'd make Snickers comfier and it'd dim down the smell. He sighed, holding out the rabbit for one second, watching the small-ish girl (compared to him) before he pulled off his shirt and wrapped the animal in one quick motion. He'd rather be bitten than his friend; he was immune to the venom. Or so he'd been told. He doubted a vampire ever bit deep enough for them to find out.

He was different from the tribe. Aiden had never felt fear or any threats from any of them and felt no need to attack. He was strange, but of course, there had to be at least one of the unpredjudice Natives that would actually speak their beleifs.

Hi. I'm Aiden, he said cheerfully, a smile spreading over his face. He didn't offer his hand. He usually didn't. It wasn't the custom he grew up with and he highly doubted she would agree to that custom.

The black haired one sat bolt upright at the snarl that had torn through Elita's vocals. But his face held no fear as he stared at her, only curiosity. His rabbit however, was wiser. It cowered like the pitiful prey it was by its master's side.
And that is how it should be. Elita thought contentedly. If this human held no current fear of her, so be it. He was a native and (hopefully) an intellect. But she enjoyed knowing that all other beasts of the world respected her for what she was. It wasn't that she hated animals... She just liked having prey know what it was.
Closing her eyes she balled her fist and coughed delicately into it to clear her from any traces of left over growl. When Elita did reopen her eyes she only did so half way, her long lashes casting shadows upon her cheeks in the failing light. Shoving her emotions in a box deep within her thinker she took a few light steps into the room, her foot falls coming down toe first like a ballerina. Leaning down and forward a bit to be level with the human's eyes she took a moment to stare into his soul windows, deep and wild unlike the Newcomers.
Seeming untaken aback by her presence the Kantari only smiled cheerfully at her, Hi. I'm Aiden.
It was short, but full of kindness. Just like a man to keep it quick.
I'm Elita D'Nartae, it will be a pleasure to meet you if you'll forgive my manners I exhidbited before hand.
A smile shyly spread over her face, although she didn't feel shy at all.
Without waiting for Aiden to reply she closed the distance with her dancer's steps and proceed to sit down next to him, mimicking his stance by sitting with her legs stretched in front of her. She looked him in the face, wondering if he'd accept her. He seemed like the kind to not turn another away, but would that apply to a vampiress as well?

He watched, amused, as she studied him studying her. No, he wouldn't be afraid. He was already used to every threat a vampire could hold. She wasn't any different. Her movements would've been shocking to the untrained eye, but his followed her every step and saw as she approached. His eyes met hers, no doubt respecting her for the vampire she was. She was powerful; a match for his power, in the least. His rabbit friend was still shaken, probably in shock, from the gruesome encounter. It may have seemed like only a rabbit to some. To most, for that matter. But he would never think of it that way.

Ah, hi, Elita he hardly reacted at all at her presence beside him. He shifted his rabbit, making sure he had air, and inhaled deeply. He could smell her light scent beside him and caught her staring at him for a second. Was he that interesting? Aiden didn't think so. Aiden hardly moved at all when she was beside him. He didn't mind her, didn't care that she was there. He didn't own the buliding, he didn't own the air she breathed and he couldn't do anything about her species. What right did he have to bitch about her because she was a vampire?

None what-so-ever. It was obvious she'd been forgiven. He had no protest unless she was going to hurt his friend. Screw him, his rabbit was the only thing that mattered. He was over-protective of things. Everything but himself.

The feeling of acceptance was nice for a change. However his extream care for the rabbit was interesting. It appeared as if he was preparing himself to throw his neck in my face if I lunged... all for the rabbit. Did he have no cares for himself? It was intriguing... these feelings they had. It had been so long since I had felt sympathy. I knew that vampires often felt emotions to the extream, but that was when they actually opened up enough to feel it. And it usually wasn't hen referring to humans.
With my companion's cavalier personality it was hard to really take human emotions back again, but here when I was surrounded by them... It woke that old spirit I used to have. \

Gently nudging him with my shoulder I started to actually feel a hint of pity for the hare hidden in the folds of his shirt. Will he be okay?
